1/2 c butter
1 c sugar
1 c all purpose flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
3/4 c milk
4 c canned peaches or crushed pineapple in own juice (do not drain), use home canned or store bought canned fruit, not pie filling

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Melt butter in a 9 by 13 inch pan. Set aside briefly. Sift together all dry ingredients. Mix dry ingredients with milk in a small bowl. Pour into prepared pan, but do NOT stir. Pour 4 cups of fruit with juices into pan over batter. Do NOT mix or stir. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Serve with ice cream or whipped cream.
  • 2. NOTE: You may optionally add 1 teaspoon cinnamon to the dry ingredients, with some fruits, if you choose. This is especially good with apples, blueberries, or peaches. USE REGULAR CANNED FRUIT, NOT PIE FILLING
