Meatloaf Pie image

I suggest that when the meat is ready to go into the pie pan that you take a small pinch, cook it for a few seconds in the micro. Taste to see if it needs some salt and pepper added. If so add to your taste.

Number Of Ingredients 11

1/3 cup(s) dry breadcrumbs
1/2 cup(s) milk
1 package(s) (40 g) french onion soup mix
2 tablespoon(s) barbecue sauce (or 1 tablespoon tomato sauce & 1 teaspoon worcestershire sauce)
1 teaspoon(s) minced garlic
1 tablespoon(s) dried parsley
1/4 teaspoon(s) dried thyme
1/4 teaspoon(s) ground nutmeg
800 gram(s) ground beef (lean)
1 sheet(s) sheets frozen puff pastry, defrosted
1 - egg (lightly beaten to glaze)

Steps:

  • In a bowl, place bread crumbs, milk, French onion soup mix, barbeque sauce, parsley, thyme and nutmeg. Mix well and leave for 5 minutes. Add lean ground beef to the mixture and mix lightly until well combined.
  • Spread filling evenly in pan. Place pastry on top and work it as you would any pie crust. Brush top of pastry lightly with beaten egg and cut steam slots.
  • Bake at 200 Celcius (392 degrees Fahrenheit) for 40 minutes until golden. Serve hot or cold.
