I love this recipe. This is a revised version of Naomi Judds recipe. I have been using this recipe for over 10 years.

Number Of Ingredients 9

2 1/3 c coarsely crushed soda crackers (1 1/2 tubes from package)
2 lb lean ground beef
1/2 lb breakfast sausage
1 large egg
2 medium onions
3/4 c ketchup + 1/4 for the top
1/3 c worcestershire sauce
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 325. In a heavy duty plastic storage bag place crackers. Seal and use a rolling pin to crush but not make them powdery. Chop onions in food processor until finely minced.
  • 2. In a large bowl mix all the ingredients except the 1/4 c ketchup for the top. Mix thoroughly. Put mixture into 13 X 9 pan. Do not pack the meat too tightly. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  • 3. After 45 minutes remove foil, spread top with 1/4 c. ketchup bake uncovered for 60 minutes. Let stand for 10 minutes before slicing. This is better the next day.
