Number Of Ingredients 14

1 c butter or margarine softened
1 1/2 c sugar
1/2 c brown sugar, packed
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 c milk
1 Tbsp maple flavoring
5 eggs
1 1/2 c chopped walnuts-i've also used pecans
GLAZE
1 c powder sugar
1 Tbsp milk (slowly add more if needed)
1/2 tsp maple flavoring
walnuts or pecans depending on what you put in cake, for garnish

Steps:

  • 1. Cream butter and sugars until fluffly.
  • 2. In a seperate bowl, combine dry ingredients.
  • 3. In a measuring cup, combine milk and maple flavoring and beat into butter mixture, alternating with flour mixture.
  • 4. Beat in eggs one at a time. Mix in 1 1/2 cups chopped nuts.
  • 5. Pour batter into a greased tube pan. Bake at 300 on lower 3rd rack position for 1 hour to 1 hour 15 mins. or until toothpick test comes out clean.
  • 6. Cool cake in pan for 15 mins. then turn onto rack or platter. Make maple glaze by sifting powder sugar and stirring in milk and maple flavoring. I like a thicker glaze so I usually don't add too much more milk. Pour glaze over cake and garnish with nuts.
