Low Cal Cauliflower Theplas {rotis} for Diabetic People image

In my effort to make low cal and low fat food, I came up with this recipe for our lunch this afternoon. This is good for those with diabetes like my mom{who has Type 2 diabetes}.

1 teaspoon dried basil leaves
1 cup whole wheat flour
3/4 teaspoon red chili powder
1 teaspoon coriander powder
3 tablespoons washed and finely chopped coriander leaves
1 teaspoon dried fenugreek leaves
1 garlic clove, pounded
1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
1/4 inch piece fresh ginger, pounded
1/4 cup jawar flour
4 medium sized cauliflower florets
1/2 medium sized onion, finely chopped
hot water, as required to knead the dough

Steps:

  • Knead all the ingredients together to combine well using hot water as required to combine.
  • Pinch off round balls of the dough.
  • Dust the board with a little flour.
  • Roll out even-sized theplas.
  • Cook on either side of a flat-bottomed pan{tava} without adding even a drop of oil until golden brown.
  • Serve hot with masala bhindi or any other vegetable of your choice and some raita.
  • Enjoy!
