Steps:
- 1. Brown sausage in large skillet; drain well.
- 2. Add spaghetti sauce and water.
- 3. Blend well.
- 4. Simmer for 5 minutes.
- 5. In medium bowl, combine ricotta cheese, chives, oregano and egg.
- 6. Mix well.
- 7. In bottom of ungreased 13x9-inch (3-quart) baking dish or lasagna pan, spread 1-1/2 cups of meat sauce.
- 8. Top with half of the noodles, half of the ricotta cheese mixture and half of the mozzarella cheese.
- 9. Repeat with remaining noodles, ricotta cheese mixture and mozzarella cheese.
- 10. Top with remaining meat sauce.
- 11. Sprinkle with parmesan cheese.
- 12. Cover.
- 13. Refrigerate overnight.
- 14. Heat oven to 350 (Uncover baking dish. Bake 50 to 60 minutes or until noodles are tender and casserole is bubbly.)
- 15. Cover.
- 16. Let stand 15 minutes before serving.
- 17. NOTE: Can easily substitute ground beef for sausage AND cottage cheese for ricotta.
