LALLY'S SOUTHERN TRADITIONAL ASPARAGUS CASSEROLE image

Ritz crackers
1 can asparagus
White sauce made with 1 cup whole milk, 1-3 tablespoons flour and a half stick of butter. Salt & pepper to taste
PAM cooking spray or a little cooking oil

Steps:

  • First make white sauce. Melt butter in saucepan, then add flour and mix together for a minute or two until flour is "cooked". Add milk and stir constantly until mixture boils and thickens. As soon as it thickens , season with salt & pepper to taste and remove from heat. Spray or oil casserole dish. Layer bottom with crumbled Ritz crackers. Then add a layer of asparagus, then alternate white sauce and asparagus until dish is full. Top with more crumbled Ritz crackers, and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
