A friend of my Mom's, a little Italian lady, gave me this recipe years ago; she used to make them by the bushel and they are so good! This is one with which the children could help. Flavors I've used are anise, lemon, vanilla, peppermint, spearmint and orange. I also color the frosting to match the flavor of cookie.

Steps:
- 1. Combine eggs, sugar, milk and oil in large mixing bowl and mix well. Add flavoring oil of your choice, using only a tiny drop. Combine dry ingredients and stir in, mixing lightly.
- 2. Turn dough onto floured board, roll or pat to 1/4" thickness. Cut into strips 1" x 4", tie each loosely into a knot and place on greased baking sheet.
- 3. Bake at 375 F for 8-10 minutes. Cool on wire rack. Frost with powdered sugar frosting or royal icing. Frosting should be something that will set up good and not smoosh down if cookies are piled up to store them.
