I reverse-engineered Old Dutch French Onion Dip and created an easy "Fresh" alternative that I personally think tastes far better than Old Dutch or Lays without all the unpronounceable additives and preservatives. I hesitated to refer to this as a Copycat recipe, as it is an insult with how fresh, flavorful, and tasty this amazing dip truly is. Once you try this, I'm sure you would regret ever needing to buy a store bought brand version ever again! This French Onion Dip makes a perfect chip or vegetable dip and you are sure to gobble it up!! The suggested number of servings may appear to be a little high, but according to Nutritional Data, 1 suggested serving size for dip from a commercial product is 2 Tbls.

Steps:
- Heat Butter (or oil) in Large Skillet on Med-High Heat. Add onions and 1/4 teaspoon Kosher Salt, stir occasionally to caramelize for approximately 20 min until onions are golden brown.
- Scrape all contents of pan into a bowl and let cool to room temperature before proceeding to the next step.
- In a separate bowl, mix together the remaining ingredients for the dip mixture. Once well blended, fold in all the contents of the onion mixture. Cover and refrigerate at least 2 hours or overnight.
- You may garnish with finely chopped chives over top if you desire. Enjoy! :).
