How to make Hungarian Nut Horn Cookies

Number Of Ingredients 6

2 sticks (1 cup) margarine or butter
8 ounces cream cheese
2 cups flour
1 cup chopped walnuts
1 cup sugar
3 tablespoon milk

Steps:

  • Mix softened butter and cream cheese together until smooth.
  • Gradually add flour until the mixture reaches a doughy consistency.
  • Wrap dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate at least 2 hours.
  • For filling, combine walnuts, sugar and milk. Stir until consistency is even.
  • When dough has been refrigerated 2 hours, preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Roll out cold dough and slice into squares.
  • Spread filling across squares of dough and roll lengthwise to create a cigar shape, or roll diagonally for a crescent shape.
  • Gently roll each piece in granulated sugar until lightly coated, then transfer to a cookie sheet.
  • Curve ends inward for crescent shape if desired.
  • Bake 8-12 minutes or until lightly browned.
