Hotdog Sauce image

When I was little, my dad's best friend and his wife use to make this sauce when we went camping. I LOVED "the hotdog sauce". Sadly, they would not share the recipe with me. This is my attempt.

1 lb ground beef
1/4 onion, minced
1 can(s) tomato paste (6 oz can)
1/8 c brown sugar
2 Tbsp ketchup
2 Tbsp bbq sauce
2 Tbsp chili powder
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
1/2 tsp tabasco (or other hot sauce)

Steps:

  • 1. Food process onions. Put in non-stick pan cook for 3 minutes on medium high. Add ground beef and brown until no more pink. Make sure to break up beef as you brown.
  • 2. Combine tomato paste and rest of ingredients in a bowl. Whisk to combine.
  • 3. Put beef mixture in slow cooker, mix in tomato mixture and cook on low for 6-8 hrs.
