HOT & SPICY CRANBERRY WARMERS image

4 cups fresh cranberries
3 1/2 quarts water
12 whole cloves
4 sticks cinnamon
3/4 cup fresh squeezed orange juice
2/3 cup fresh squeezed lemon juice
2 cups sugar
EASIER
3 whole cloves
2 cinnamon sticks
2 whole allspice
4 cups apple cider/juice
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
4 cups cranberry juice
additional cinnamon sticks for garnish
rum, if desired

Steps:

  • EASY Combine cranberries, water, cloves and cinnamon in a large pot; bring to a boil. Cover and reduce heat; simmer 12-15 minutes. Strain liquid through double-thickness of cheesecloth or a fine seive, pressing the berries to remove all juices. Add citrus juices and sugar; stir until sugar is dissolved. Serve hot with cinnamon stick and rum (for the adults). EASIER Contain cloves and allspice in a teaball. Place spices and cider in a large saucepan. Simmer, covered, for 5 minutes. Stir in sugar and simmer for 5 minutes. Add cranberry juice and heat to simmering temperature. Serve hot in mugs. Garnish with cinnamon sticks, if desired or rum (for the adults).
