Hot Fudge Cake image

This recipe was handed down to me by Mrs Pauline Sharp who founded my childhood church.

Number Of Ingredients 12

1 cup(s) all-purpose flour
3/4 cup(s) sugar
6 tablespoon(s) baking cocoa, divided
2 teaspoon(s) baking powder
1/4 teaspoon(s) salt
1/2 cup(s) milk
2 tablespoon(s) vegetable oil
1 teaspoon(s) vanilla extract
1 cup(s) brown sugar, packed
1 3/4 cup(s) hot water
OPTIONAL
- whipped cream or ice cream

Steps:

  • In a medium bowl, combine flour, sugar, 2 Tbsp. cocoa, baking powder and salt.
  • Stir in the milk, oil, and vanilla until smooth.
  • Spread in a ungreased 9-inch square baking pan.
  • In a bowl, combine brown sugar and remaining cocoa.
  • Sprinkle mixture over batter.
  • Pour hot water over all; DO NOT stir.
  • Bake at 350 degrees F for 35 to 40 minutes.
  • Serve warm.
  • Top with whipped cream or ice cream if desired.
