How to make Hot and Spicy Tomato Salsa

Number Of Ingredients 12

3 - tomatoes, medium, ripe and coarsley chopped
1 teaspoon(s) olive oil
1/2 teaspoon(s) pepper
1/2 teaspoon(s) salt
1/2 teaspoon(s) ground red pepper
1/4 cup(s) lemon juice
1/3 cup(s) dry white wine
3 tablespoon(s) onions, finely chopped
2 small jalapeno chile peppers, seeded and finely chopped
6 - garlic cloves, medium and minced
15 ounce(s) tomato puree
1/4 cup(s) cilantro, fresh and chopped

Steps:

  • In a medium saucepan, combine all ingredients except cilantro.
  • Bring to a boil over high heat.
  • Reduce heat to medium; cook, uncovered, 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Stir in cilantro.
  • Serve hot or cold as a dip for chips or as a relish.
  • Makes 4 cups.
  • Can be frozen for up to 2 months in tightly covered container.
  • VARIATIONS: Unsweetened apple juice can be used in place of 1/3 cups dry white wine.
