Homemade Dog Biscuits image

This is a super simple dog treat recipe that was given to me by my friend who is a veterinarian student. These are super easy to make and definitely healthier than the store-bought stuff. I bake batches of this for my puppy as well as my family/friend's dogs all the time. It's really easy to alter to your pets liking. For example: My Chinese Crested loves carrots, so I will occasionally add about 1/4 cup grated carrots to the mix.

2 cup(s) whole wheat flour
1 cup(s) peanut butter (i use organic)
1 tablespoon(s) baking powder
1 cup(s) milk
OPTIONAL: (FOR DOGS WITH NO/WEAK TEETH)
1/2 cup(s) applesauce

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 F.
  • In a medium bowl, combine flour & baking powder.
  • In a separate bowl, mix peanut butter & milk (& applesauce if you choose to add it). Slowly add wet mixture to dry, and combine well.
  • Flour a surface, and lightly knead the dough (doesn't have to be perfect.) Roll out to around 1/4-inch thickness and cut using a cookie cutter (we use a bone shape).
  • Bake on a greased baking sheet for 20 minutes or until edges are browned. Cool & store in an airtight container.
