When I get into the kitchen making these good smelling breads it puts me in the Holiday Spirit. I enjoy taking some bread loaves to visit friends and gather around their table with a cup of coffee. This is an attractive bread. I like several different breads. To take a loaf when you visit really adds to the conversation.

Steps:
- BREAD: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and flour regular large loaf pan. *** When you put flour in pan shake it around to cover then take to sink and bump pan to remove excess flour.
- In a large bowl combine flour, salt, baking powder, baking soda, and sugar. Make sure to mix up.
- In a 1 or 2 cup measuring cup, put orange juice and zest (saving 1 Tbsp juice for icing), the butter, and...enough boiling water to make 3/4 cup !!! Stir this into flour mixture. FOLD in egg, walnuts, and cranberries. Pour batter into prepared pan.
- Bake in preheated oven one hour or until a toothpick inserted into center of bread and comes out clean. Cool in pan 5 minutes before removing to a rack to cool completely.
- ICING: Combine powdered sugar, butter, orange juice, and milk. Adding a LITTLE more milk might be necessary so icing is thin and slightly runny. Drizzle over bread. Allow icing to dry before slicing. When completely cooled to room temperature wrap in foil until ready to slice and serve.
