2 Tbsp olive oil, light
2 lb ham steaks
1 1/2 c apple cider
1/2 c apple wine

  • 1. I use a cast iron skillet for this. But any heave duty skillet will work.. Heat oil in a heavy skillet over high heat. Brown ham steak with mushrooms on each side for 2-3 minutes.Remove ham steaks and mushrooms and keep warm on a plater.
  • 2. Combine cider, brown sugar, apples, sages, cinnamon, and apple wine into skillet Bring to a rapid boil, then cook till reduced by abought 1/3. Whisk in mustard reduce heat to simmer.
  • 3. Return ham and mushrooms to the pan. Cover and cook over low heat for 10 to 15 minutes..Put meat on a platter..Raise heat to high whisk till sauce becomes like a syrup and poor over ham steak...
