~ Ham & Cheddar Biscuits ~ image

A nice way to use up any leftover ham.

Number Of Ingredients 8

2 cup(s) self rising flour
1/2 cup(s) butter
1 cup(s) ground ham ~ i use country ham
1 1/2 cup(s) shredded, sharp cheddar cheese
1 teaspoon(s) dry mustard
1/4 teaspoon(s) cayenne pepper ~ optional
3/4 - 1 cup(s) buttermilk or enough to moisten
3 tablespoon(s) butter, melted

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 450 degree F. Add the flour to a bowl. Cut in 1/2 cup butter with a pastry cutter or fork until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Stir in the ham, mustard, pepper and cheese.
  • Add the buttermilk; stir until a moist dough forms. Drop dough by heaping teaspoonfuls onto a lightly greased baking sheet.
  • Bake for 10 - 13 minutes, or until lightly golden. Brush with melted butter.
