Grilled Ham Steak with Peppered Peach Glaze image

This southern-style main course is especially good with steamed green beans, some old-fashioned potato salad, sliced tomatoes and buttermilk biscuits. Or try it with your breakfast eggs.

Time 25m

Number Of Ingredients 7

1/4 c peach preserves (i've also used apricot)
1 Tbsp fresh ginger, peeled and minced
1 Tbsp fresh lime juice
2 tsp coarse-grained dijon mustard
1/2 tsp grated lime peel
1 boneless ham steak, about 1/2-inch thick, (8- 1/2to 10-ounces)
1/2 tsp coarsely ground pepper

Steps:

  • 1. Prepare barbecue (medium-high heat).
  • 2. Combine preserves, ginger lime juice, mustard and lime peel in heavy small saucepan. Stir over low heat until preserves melt.
  • 3. Sprinkle both sides of ham with pepper; press lightly so that pepper adheres. Brush ham with some of peach glaze.
  • 4. Grill ham until heated through, lightly browned and beginning to crisp at edges, brushing occasionally with more glaze, about 3 minutes per side. Cut ham in half. Transfer to plates. Brush with any remaining glaze and serve.
