Grilled BBQ Chicken image

Everyone will be impressed with this juicy BBQ chicken. It's moist, flavorful, and easy to make. The brine tenderizes and seasons the chicken so the meat has a nice flavor all the way through. Quickly flipping the chicken a few times helps to hold in the juices so it has time to bake without drying out. Basting with your favorite barbecue sauce at the end adds a pop of flavor. Yum!

Number Of Ingredients 6

5 pound(s) whole chicken
8 cup(s) water
1/2 cup(s) Kosher salt
1/2 cup(s) white sugar
3 tablespoon(s) chicken spice blend
1/2 cup(s) bbq sauce

Steps:

  • Cut chicken in half.
  • Prepare brine by combining warm water, salt, sugar, and 2 Tbsp of chicken spice (reserving the other 1 Tbsp for later). Let the brine cool.
  • Place chicken halves in brine and refrigerator overnight. Try to get at least an 8 hr soak.
  • Remove chicken from brine, no need to rinse. Place on tray and season with remaining spices .
  • Place chicken bone down on hot grill preheated to 350.
  • Turn over a few times (just to get good grill marks on the skin side but do not burn).
  • Cook until temp reaches 165-170.
  • Baste with BBQ sauce for 5 min. Remove chicken and let sit for 10 min. Total cooking time about 45 min depending on grill temp.
