Green Beans with Shallots image

We love this simple Ina Garten recipe. I prefer using the haricots verts. Enjoy!

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 lb green beans or haricots verts, ends removed
kosher salt, to taste
2 Tbsp unsalted butter
1 Tbsp olive oil
3 large shallots, large-diced
1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper

Steps:

  • 1. Blanch the beans in a large pot of boiling, salted water for 1 1/2 minutes only. Drain immediately and immerse in a bowl of ice water.
  • 2. Heat the butter and oil in a large saute pan (12 inch) and saute the shallots on medium heat for 5-10 minutes, tossing occasionally, until lightly browned.
  • 3. Drain the beans and add the shallots with 1/2 t. salt and the pepper, tossing well. Heat only until the beans are hot.
