Fresh green beans and parmesan cheese make a simple but delicious combination of flavors.

Steps:
- 1. Melt the butter or margarine in a medium saucepan. Add the green beans and garlic and cook for 2 to 3 minutes over medium heat, stirring frequently.
- 2. Stir in the stock and season with salt and pepper. Bring to a boil. Lower the heat and simmer, uncovered, for 10 to 15 minutes until the beans are tender.
- 3. Pour the soup into a blender or food processor and process until smooth. Alternately, puree the soup in a food mill. Return to the pan and reheat slowly.
- 4. Stir in the parmesan cheese and cream and sprinkle with parsley. Serve hot.
