Gramma's Pound Cake image

My Mom gavae me this recipe 40 years ago. It is great for strawberry shortcake or just eating alone. You can also add a glaze or different flavorings to it for a little variety

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 lb butter
1 lb confectioners sugar
1 lb cake flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla extract
6 eggs

Steps:

  • 1. Cream butter and sugar together till light and fluffy Add salt and flavorings(I use almond extract, lemon, chocolate or whatever flavor you like)
  • 2. Add flour and an egg, beating well after each. When all the flour and eggs are mixed in the batter, beat for another 2-4 minutes at high speed. The air you beat into the cake will make it rise, so it is important that it is beat well.
  • 3. Bake at 350 degrees for one hour in a well greased tube pan. Check if done by inserting a toothpick near the center of pan. Cool, enjoy!!!
