I found this recipe in an old church cookbook this morning...I had a cookie similar to this when I was a child and loved it. I am so happy to find that after I made this one, it was just like my childhood memory. It is very yummy and I was able to get rid of few holiday leftovers too...like a 1/4 bag of coconut, 1/4 bag of...

Number Of Ingredients 15

1 c sugar
1 c brown sugar
1 c butter
1 c butter flavored shortening (crisco)
1 large egg
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cream of tartar
3 1/2 c flour
1 c rice krispies
1 c oatmeal
1 c coconut
1/2 c nuts, chopped, optional
1 c chocolate chips or most any flavor, optional

Steps:

  • 1. Cream sugars, butter and shortening. Add egg and vanilla, mix well. Add in flour, salt, soda and tartar, mixing until blended. Stir in krispies, oatmeal, coconut, nuts and chips if desired.
  • 2. Drop tablespoonfuls onto cookie sheets and bake at 350 for 15 minutes...of course you can do them smaller, just remember to adjust the time.
  • 3. I have alot of ideas running through my head. Of things I could do to this recipe to switch it up a bit. As I experiment, I'll keep you posted. :)
