Whenever I'm in Cuba, I'm astonished at how much they love cream cheese, even though it's not cheap or easy to find! This sandwich is named after a lady who now lives in Miami - where its served in every Cuban sandwich shop. The legend has it that she originated this sandwich at El Carmelo Restaurant in Havana, where she was a regular patron many years ago. Breakfast, lunch or snack...

Number Of Ingredients 4

2 slice(s) white bread
1 tablespoon(s) cream cheese
1 tablespoon(s) strawberry preserves
4 ounce(s) sliced cooked turkey

Steps:

  • Toast the bread and cut off the crusts.
  • Spread 1 slice of toasted bread with the cream cheese, and the other with the strawberry preserves. Place the turkey on the side of your choice and close to make a sandwich.
