quick and easy,surprisingly tasty

Provided by mentalmumtitch

Time 20m

Yield Serves 10

Number Of Ingredients 6

3 medium mugs of self raising flour
a medium mug of cold water
1 teaspoon of salt
a liberal spreading of butter
liberal amounts of strawberry jam (or any flavor)
enough oil (any type you like i use sunflower) to grease your baking trays

Steps:

  • grease the baking trays with the oil and preheat your oven to 200C/gas mark 6 my oven is fan assisted so you may need to adjust it to suit your own oven
  • sift the flour into a large glass bowl, add the salt and make a well in the middle to pour your water in slowly, dont add all the water at once, slowly mix the flour into the well of water untill it starts to form a dough,if your dough is still sticky add a couple of tablespoons of flour or as much needed to make the dough drier
  • lightly dust a chopping board or a clean work surface and start kneading the dough, break into ten balls or how ever many you want depending on the size,it is a heavy dough though so bare that in mind
  • roll each ball with using your hands until smooth, place on the baking tray and press flat with your hand again this can be how ever thick or thin as you like
  • place the baking trays into the oven for about 15 minutes or untill you see a golden color on top
  • remove and allow to cool down slightly then while still warm slice in half and enjoy with butter and strawberry jam
