1 medium sweet onion
2 minced garlic cloves
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons olive oil
28 ounces crushed tomatoes
5 1/2 cups tomato juice
2 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons chicken base
1/2 teaspoon white pepper
1 cup red wine
2 teaspoons dried basil
2 teaspoons parsley flakes
12 ounces low fat evaporated milk

Steps:

  • Melt the butter with the olive oil in a medium pot.
  • Saute the onion and garlic until the onion is translucent.
  • Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato juice, sugar, chicken base, white pepper, wine, basil, and parsley.
  • Bring the soup to a boil.
  • Reduce the heat to low , stir in the evaporated milk., and simmer for 10 minutes.
