Easy Apple Pie image

This is a simple recipe. I usually use 4 Granny Smith Apples and 3 of another kind of apple. It makes the texture more interesting. Serve alone or with Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla ice cream.

6 cups thinly sliced apples (4 granny smith 3 delicious)
3/4 cups sugar
2 tbls flour
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp salt
1/8 tsp ground nutmeg
2 tbls lemon juice

Steps:

  • 1. HEAT OVEN to 425 degrees. Place one pie crust in 9-10" glass pie plate. Press bottom and sides. Prepare 2nd pie crust for topping.
  • 2. In large bowl,gently mix filling ingredients. Spoon into crust-lined pie plate.Top with second crust. Wrap the excess crust under the bottom crust.Use a pie crust crimper to seal the two crust together (or pinch with fingers.)Cut vent openings in top crust.
  • 3. Bake at 425 degrees (middle rack of oven) for a total of 45 minutes. When pie has baked for 15 minutes, cover the edge of the crust with 3" strips of foil to prevent edges from over browning.
  • 4. Cool on cooling rack for 2 hrs. before serving. Serves 8 - 10.
