In our town there is a little restaurant called Cane River Bar & Grill that my sister, Cynthia, and I love to go to. When we go we order this appetizer. Since I loved them so much I've always been on the lookout for a recipe for them. I found this little recipe a few months back and had to make it my own. It originally called...

Number Of Ingredients 10

1/2 c dijon mustard
1/4 c honey
1 1/2 tsp light soy sauce
pinch of dry mustard
4 c canola oil, for frying
2 large egg whites
1 1/2 c all-purpose flour
1 1/4 c club soda
1 lb green beans, ends trimmed
salt, to taste

Steps:

  • 1. In a medium saucepan over low heat, whisk first 4 ingredients until warmed. Transfer sauce to a small bowl; let cool.
  • 2. In a medium Dutch oven fitted with a thermometer over medium-high heat, heat oil to 350 degrees. In a medium bowl, whisk egg whites to soft peaks. Whisk in flour and club soda.
  • 3. Working in batches, dip beans in batter, then lower into oil. Fry until golden brown, about 3 minutes. Drain on paper towels; sprinkle with salt. Serve with dipping sauce.
