Combination of several recipes I liked parts of until I came up with my own plan..... takes a while from start to finish, but each segment is not that much work individually. My son and I had fun making this together and as he is now 14 years old those moments are few and far between because he is leading a teenage life and that doesn't usually include mom. Enjoy!!

Steps:
- crust: 2 1/2 tsp (or 1/2 tbsp) active dry yeast dissolved in 1 cup very warm water for approx 10 mins..... 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour, 1 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp garlic powder (mix well)..... mix the yeast and water into the flour mixture (use your hands) until well blended and a tacky dough..... pour onto floured surface and knead for 10 minutes...... place in a bowl that has been coated with olive oil, turn to coat the dough ball on all sides..... cover loosely and let rise for 1 to 2 hours........ meanwhile; finely chop 1 small onion and 2 garlic cloves..... saute in 1 tbsp olive oil until translucent..... add 1 (14 oz) can of diced tomatoes, 1 (5 oz) can of tomato paste, 1 cup water, 1 tsp dried oregano, 1/2 tsp garlic powder, 1/2 tsp salt.... bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer 30 mins........ slice 1 med bell pepper and 1 med red onion into thin slices....... you will also need sliced black olives (small can) and sliced raw mushrooms (veggie aisle at store)......brown italian sausge and set aside (i used 6 (5 inch) links removed from casing and crumbled...... after dough has risen, punch down and divide into two equal balls.......preheat oven to 415 degrees...... roll out dough and press into a cast iron skillet, spoon half of the marinara onto the dough, sprinkle on the sausage, scatter veggies all over and top with cheese.... bake for 30 to 35 mins until crust is golden brown at the edges...... let stand for 5 or so minutes to set well, slice and serve...... for extra flavor you can melt a stick of butter with 1/2 tsp garlic powder and drizzle over each persons slice as desired........... use the other ball of dough and the other half of the marinara with your favorite toppings to make another type of pizza to serve...... the spicy chicken I made was OK but not a great pizza, I would suggest maybe a pineapple and canadian bacon or just pepperoni to keep it simple.
