Crusty french Bread image

Its been over 10 years since I got bread, kizer rolls, hogie rools, bagels etc. from the store. A saving of well over a thousand dollars.

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 1/2 c warm water
2 tsp sugar
1 tsp salt
3 tsp yeast
4 tsp vital wheat gluten with vitamin c added to the flour
4 c high gluten flour
2 Tbsp sesame seeds
egg wash

Steps:

  • 1. mix the flour salt in one bowl mix the yeast, suger, and water. let it rest for 5 minutes. then add the wet ingredients to the dry mix. Turn mixer on med speed until the mix turns in to a ball. Spray bowl and top of dough and cover. Place the dough in the proofer for 30 minutes or until the dough doubles in size. Punch it down and forn a loaf . Place the loaf in a loaf pan and brush the top with the egg wash . Sprinkle with sesame seeds. Place the dough back in the proofer for 35 minutes or until it doubles in size again. Place in a pre heated oven at 350 degrease for 30 minutes. Place on a rack to cool.
  • 2. You can use bread flour inplace of high gluten. You can find vitaminc with high gluten in Walmart in the flour section.
