Crunch-Topped Apple Crisp image

It's true that most apple crisps have a crispy topping. This one, however, has an extra bit of crunch. Prepare to hand out the recipe to dazzled guests.

Number Of Ingredients 9

6 apples, peeled, cored and sliced (6 cups)
1/4 cup finely chopped pecans, toasted
1 Tbsp. MINUTE Tapioca
1 Tbsp. lemon juice
1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp. ground ginger
1/2 cup packed brown sugar, divided
1-1/2 cups bite-size shredded wheat cereal, finely crushed
1/4 cup margarine, melted

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350°F.
  • Combine first 6 ingredients and 1/4 cup sugar; let stand 10 min. Meanwhile, mix crushed cereal, margarine and remaining sugar until blended.
  • Spoon apple mixture into 1-1/2 qt. casserole. Top with cereal mixture.
  • Bake 45 min. or until apples are tender.
