CROCKPOT APPLE BROWN BETTY image

This is a very good but easy dessert to make in the crockpot. I have even added a cup of golden raisins for extra taste and texture. Great served warm with whipped cream or ice cream.

4 granny smith apples
1 loaf of white bread, cubed, crust removed and discarded
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp salt
1 c brown sugar, packed
1 stick butter or margarine

Steps:

  • 1. Wash apples, peel, core, cut into eighths; place in bottom of crock.
  • 2. In a saucepan, melt the butter and stir in the brown sugar and spices.
  • 3. In a medium bowl, combine bread cubes, butter mixture; toss together. Pour on top of apples in the crock.
  • 4. Cover and cook on low setting 2 to 3 hours.
