Creamed peas and potatos image

This was my moms recipe. My favorite side dish.

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 lb small new potatos
11/2 c frozen baby peas
1 Tbsp minced onion
1 Tbsp margarine
1 Tbsp flour
1/2 tsp salt
1/8 tsp black pepper
1 Tbsp sugar
1 c milk

Steps:

  • 1. Peel and boil potatoes. Don't overcook. Drain. Set aside. Boil the peas until tender.
  • 2. In a saucepan, add the onion and the butter. Cook until the onions are tender. Add the flour, salt and pepper. Stir until well mixed. Add the milk. Stir until well blended.
  • 3. Continue to stir and simmer until mixture has thickened. Cook for 1 more minute. Add the sugar while simmering. Add the peas and potatoes to the sauce. Stir well till heated thoroughly.
