Cranberry Orange Sauce image

I have been making cranberry sauce this way for years and years. It's so easy that you will never buy canned cranberry sauce again, and even cranberry sauce haters might like this one! Don't wait for a special occasion. This sauce is a wonderful accompaniment to poultry, meat or fish. Try adding two chopped apples and/or 1/2 cup...

Time 15m

Number Of Ingredients 4

1 c sugar
1 c orange juice, pulp free
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 12 oz bag fresh cranberries

Steps:

  • 1. Combine sugar, cinnamon and orange juice in a sauce pan over medium heat. Cook and stir until orange juice is dissolved.
  • 2. Rinse cranberries and add to orange juice sugar mixture. Continue to cook until cranberries pop, approximately 10 minutes.
  • 3. Remove from heat, transfer to a bowl and refrigerate. Sauce will thicken as it cools. For best results, make two to three days in advance to allow flavors to blend.
