Steps:
- Combine cereal and water in a saucepan; bring to a boil, reduce heat, cover and cook 8 minutes. Add honey, butter and salt Cool to warm (approx. 115 degrees to 128 ) In mixer bowl, combine whole wheat flour, yeast and milk powder. Add cereal mixture and beat at low speed with electric mixer for 1/2 minute, scraping sides of bowl well. Beat for 3 minutes at high speed. Stir in all purpose flour by hand until dough is moderately stiff. Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface; Knead until smooth & elastic, adding flour as needed (8 to 10 minutes). Shape into a ball. Place in lightly greased bowl, turning once to grease surface. Cover and let rise in a warm place till double (45-60 minutes) * Preheat oven to 400 degrees Punch dough down, turn out onto lightly floured surface. Cover and let dough rest for 10 minutes. Divide dough in half. Shape each half into a loaf; place in two greased loaf pans. Cover and let rise till double (@30 minutes). Glaze top with 1 beaten egg yolk + 1Tbsp. milk. Bake at 400 degrees for 30 - 35 minutes. *Sandy Peterson gave me this recipe when Richard & I were first married- it's the first homemade bread that I ever made.
