CRACKED CHOCOLATE COOKIES image

Yield 4 dozen

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 1/2 cups firmly packed light brown sugar
2/3 cups Crisco Shortening
1 tablespoon water
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 eggs
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
2 cups miniature semisweet chocolate chips

Steps:

  • 1. Heat oven to 375 degrees. Place sheets of foil on countertop for cooling cookies. 2. Place brown sugar, shorenting, water and vanilla in large bowl. Beat at medium speed of electric mixer until well blended. Add eggs; beat well. 3. Combine flour, cocoa, salt and baking soda. Add to shortening mixture; eat at low speed just until blended. Stir in small chocolate chips. 4. Shape dough into 1 1/4" balls. Roll in confectioners sugar. Palce 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheet. 5. Bake one baking sheet at a time at 375 degrees for 7 to 9 minutes or until cookies are set. Do not overbake. Cool 2 minutes on baking sheet. Remove cookies to foil to cool completely.
