Cowboy Candy image

My Texan husband loves this! It's so simple to make. If you don't like it so spicy, delete the seeds and membrane of the jalapenos, but we think it's better with a little hear! I love adding this to my taco meat or scrambled eggs. It adds just the right amount of zest! My husband is a long-haul truck driver, and he brought some Cowboy Candy back on his last run from Texas, and we fell in love with it.

Number Of Ingredients 4

1 1/4 cup(s) fresh jalapenos, sliced
1/2 cup(s) sugar
1/4 cup(s) water
1 dash(es) green food coloring (opt.)

Steps:

  • Slice jalapenos and place in a small sauce pan. Add water and sugar. Stir and cook over medium heat until boiling.
  • Reduce heat to a low simmer and continue cooking until liquid has reduced and sugar-water is like syrup (15029 minutes).
  • Let cool and place in a clean jelly jar. Store in refrigerator. You'll soon become addicted to adding this to many of your dishes. This recipe can easily be doubled. We are now true addicts of our new favorite candy!
