County Fair Caramel Apple Cakes image

These sweet and spicy cakes make me feel like I am wandering through a harvest festival! They are the epitome of fall... and each bite is pure delight. Enjoy!

1 2/3 cup(s) all-purpose flour
1 cup(s) brown sugar, firmly packed
1 teaspoon(s) cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon(s) allspice
1 teaspoon(s) baking soda
1/2 teaspoon(s) salt
3/4 cup(s) applesauce
1/4 cup(s) sour cream
1/3 cup(s) vegetable oil
1 tablespoon(s) lemon juice
- caramel glaze recipe follows
1/2 cup(s) chopped toasted walnuts
12 - popsicle sticks
CARMEL GLAZE
20 - carmels
1 tablespoon(s) milk

Steps:

  • Comnine flour, sugar, spices, soda and salt in a mixing bowl
  • stir in applesauce, sourcream, oil and lemon juice
  • pour into muffin pans fitted with paper liners
  • bake 20 minutes in a preheated oven of 350
  • let cool completely on a wire rack
  • Spread carmel glaze over the tops and insert sticks upright in the center of each.
  • Garnish rim of each cake with nuts for the carmel apple dipped in nuts look. to make more festive tie a small ribbon bow around each stick
