Cornmeal Dumplings image

Can use this for any vegetable soup, beef stew, or whatever. I love cornmeal dumplings with any soup really.

Number Of Ingredients 8

1/3 c flour
1/4 c yellow cornmeal
1 tsp baking powder
dash(es) of salt
dash(es) of pepper
1 egg white, beaten
2 Tbsp milk
1 Tbsp oil

Steps:

  • 1. Make dumplings by mixing together flour, cornmeal, baking powder, salt, and pepper. Combine egg white, milk and oil. Add to flour mixture. Stir with fork until just combined.
  • 2. When whatever soup you have made is about 1/2 hr. from being done, put heat on high (in slow cooker) Drop dumpling mixture by rounded teaspoonfuls to make 8 mounds atop the soup.
  • 3. Cover. Cook for 30 minutes (do not lift lid)
