Steps:
- 1. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cornmeal, baking powder, sugar and salt. In a small bowl, beat egg well, then beat in milk and oil. Pour the egg mixture over the flour mixture and combine by hand. 2. Drop by tablespoons onto hot simmering broth or liquid--makes 10 generous dumplings. Cover the pot tightly and simmer over low heat for 25 minutes; do not lift the lid or the dumplings will fall.
