Copycat Pat's Philly Cheese Steak image

There are many Philly Cheese Steak sandwiches offered in fast food shops, none even come close to Pat's original. This recipe is pretty faithful to the original.

Provided by @MakeItYours

Number Of Ingredients 8

2 Tbsp Vegetable Oil
1 Yellow Sweet Onion
½ Green Bell Pepper; Seeded
1× 1 lb Rib Eye Steak
2 12" Baguettes or Hoagie Rolls
½ tsp Coarse Kosher Salt
¼ tsp Black Pepper
1 jar Cheese Whiz

Steps:

  • cook the onion and bell peppers:Heat a cast iron skillet or griddle over medium high heat. When hot, add the oil, onions and bell peppers, then cook, stirring until caramelized, about 6 minutes. Set off to one side of the griddle. cook the steak:Add the meat to the hot pan and cook, stirring and breaking the slices into pieces, until no longer pink, about 2 minutes. build your sandwich:Evenly divide the steak into each of the split baguettes, then add the peppers and onions, evenly divided between the sandwiches, on top of the steaks and season with salt and black pepper. Complete the steaks by spooning copious amounts of the heated, and partially liquefied Cheese Whiz over the top of the peppers and onions. service:Serve immediately optionally topped with Italian pickled peppers and accompanied with ice cold beer or beverage of your choice.
