My mother in law showed me how to make this many years ago. When you have milk that has gone bad she told me never throw it a way that's a waste, make candy. So this recipe does not have exact amounts it goes according to how much milk you have.

Steps:
- 1. if using a bag of sweetened shredded coconut you would just add a few table spoons of sugar. If using fresh shredded or grated coconut use more sugar. Just adjust according to your taste.
- 2. shred coconut if using a fresh one you can pour the water from the coconut into the pot also.
- 3. pour milk into pot add coconut, start with 2 or 3 tbs of sugar 1 tsp of vanilla and if using cinnamon 1 sticks.
- 4. cook over medium low heat constantly stirring and continue cooking and stirring until mixture thickens. Taste to check sweetness and add more sugar if needed.
- 5. when very thick place tablespoon sized mounds on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper or wax paper, refrigerate to cool. enjoy 8] you can add a little food coloring for color if you like.
