We had never heard of this as we were born in Montana and North Dakota. Upon moving to California many years ago, it quickly became a favorite. Always thought it was time consuming to make, but this is a very easy and quick recipe!

Steps:
- 1. Sauté onions and garlic.
- 2. Add chicken and brown both sides.
- 3. Add soy sauce, vinegar, sugar, peppercorns, bay leaves.
- 4. Add enough water to cover chicken.
- 5. Cook over medium heat until tender. Turn heat up and boil liquid to thicken.
- 6. Usually served over steamed rice. May garnish with chopped green onions (optional).
