How to make Cheese Lovers Apple Pie Recipe

Number Of Ingredients 15

3 to 4 large apples
1 tbsp lemon juice
For the crust:
3/4 cup all purpose flour
1/2 tsp salt
6 tbsp butter
2-3 tbsp cold water
For the goat cheese filling:
8 ounces of soft goat cheese
1 egg
zest from 1/2 lemon
a dash of vanilla
3 tablespoons heavy cream
1/2 cup of sugar
2 teaspoons corn starch

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350F.
  • Prepare apples by peeling and slicing thinly.
  • Sprinkle them lightly with lemon juice, so that they dont turn brown.
  • Add flour, salt and butter into a mixing bowl. Use a pastry cutter or two knives to cut into you have mixture the texture of coarse meal.
  • One spoonful at a time, sprinkle with cold water and mix until the dough holds together and cleans away from the bowl easily.
  • Lightly flour a surface and lightly flour a rolling pin.
  • Roll dough , using more flour if the dough begins to stick.
  • Transfer dough to a 9 inch pie plate, fluting the edges.

  • For the goat cheese filling:
  • Place all the ingredients in the food processor and pulse until they are mixed.
  • Pour the cheese mixture onto the dough in the tart pan and then arrange the apples over the cheese. Work in a circular pattern, starting from the edge, creating rows until you reach the center.
  • Bake for 1 hour until crust is golden brown.
