CHALLAH (BREAD MAKER) image

Yield 2 loafs

Number Of Ingredients 9

1/4 Cup Warm Water
2 1/4 Tsp yeast for bread machines
3/4 cup Milk
1/8 cup Sugar
1 1/2 tsp salt
6 tblsp. Butter (cut up at room temp)
2 beaten eggs (reserve 1 tablespoon
4 cups bread flour
poppy seeds to cover (can use sesame as well)

Steps:

  • 1. Stir the yeast into the water and set aside. 2. Place the milk, sugar, salt, butter, and eggs into breadmaker. 3. Place the yeast on top. 4. Put Breadmaker on dough setting. 5. WHen done, punch down and separate into three balls of equal size. 6. Roll into ropes less than 2" thick. 7. On buttered cookie sheet pinch together ends and braid. Tuck ends under. 8. baste top with the reserved egg and sprikle seeds. 9. Bake at 350 for 25-30 minutes.
