CARDAMOM-COFFEE TOFFEE BARS image

1/2 c butter, cut into pieces, 1/2 c dark brown sugar, 1 t vanilla, 1 t ground espresso-roast coffee grounds, 1/2 t ground cardamom, 1/4 t salt, 1 c flour, 1 c semisweet choc baking chips, 1/2 c almonds, toasted and chopped
preheat oven to 350 line an 8 ' square baking dish with foil

Steps:

  • melt butter in saucepan, stir in the brown sugar, vanilla, coffee and cardamom, add salt and flour and mix just until incorporated. bake 20 - 25 min. scatter choc over bars. return to oven for 1-2 min--spread choc evenly over the toffee bars. sprinkle the chopped almonds over the choc.
