- Melt butter in a hot skillet. Add onion slices and red pepper flakes and toss to coat with butter.
- Once onions sizzle, turn heat to medium and simmer for about 45 minutes, or until they begin to caramelize, stirring periodically while cooking.
- Pour Diet A&W Root Beer over cooked onions.
- Simmer onions in Root Beer until sauce has thickened and onions have glazed over.
- Serve as desired.
