Time 10m

Number Of Ingredients 6

6 oz brewed hot espresso or strong coffee
6 oz milk (i used 2%, and it was fine)
3 tsp caramel syrup
1 tsp vanilla syrup
whipped cream (aerosol can type), chilled
extra caramel syrup, for drizzling (optional)

Steps:

  • 1. Heat milk in a small saucepan until hot, but not boiling. Transfer hot milk to a blender, and blend until frothy. (To save time, you can heat the milk in a microwave oven. But using the stove top allows you to more easily control the temperature of the milk.)
  • 2. Transfer frothy milk to a tall mug. Add vanilla syrup and caramel syrup, and stir a few times. Slowly pour hot espresso (or coffee) over the milky mixture.
  • 3. Top with a froth of whipped cream, and if desired drizzle extra caramel syrup over the whipped cream. Serve immediately.
  • 4. If you plan to make Caramel Macchiato often, you might want to consider making your own vanilla syrup. It's easy to do, and you'll save money. Vanilla Syrup: 2 cups water 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract Combine sugar and water in a small saucepan. Bring to boil over high heat and boil for 5 minutes. Let cool, then add the vanilla and stir well. Store in refrigerator in an air-tight container until ready to use.
