Cape Cod Cranberry Cookies image

These are great for the holidays. Cranberry and orange are one of my favorite flavor combos.

Number Of Ingredients 15

1/2 cup(s) butter or margarine
1 1/3 cup(s) brown sugar
1 - egg, beaten
1 teaspoon(s) vanilla
1/2 cup(s) sour cream
2 1/2 cup(s) all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon(s) baking powder
1/4 teaspoon(s) baking soda
1 teaspoon(s) nutmeg
1 cup(s) chopped pecans
1 1/4 cup(s) chopped cranberries
ORANGE GLAZE(OPTIONAL):
2 tablespoon(s) orange juice
2/3 cup(s) powdered sugar
1 teaspoon(s) grated orange rind

Steps:

  • Beat butter and sugar until light and creamy. Beat in the egg and vanilla. Add sour cream.
  • Combine flour, baking powder, soda, and nutmeg in a separate bowl. Stir into the wet mixture until well blended. Add the pecans and cranberries.
  • Drop tablespoon-sized mounds on a greased cookie sheet. Make sure they are spaced 2 inches apart. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes at 375 degrees. Cool for a few minutes on baking sheet.
  • Remove cookies and transfer to a rack to completely cool. Ice cookies with the orange glaze if you wish. Store in a tin.
